Our local hospital is hoping a new focus on doctor recruitment will help bring the best and brightest to Quinte West. Paula Mason, formerly with the Victorian Order of Nurses, is TMH’s new physician recruiter. One month into her new role, she says attracting new doctors to the area is about sharing the lifestyle that our community can provide to new graduates, young professionals and growing families. Mason says several long-time doctors plan to retire in the coming years. But she adds there are two main differences – Current doctors usually have paper records and carry patient loads of up to 3,000 people – New students prefer electronic records and want smaller patient loads.
She says it could take up to three new doctors to replace one retiring one. The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Quinte Health Care kicked-off their #CareForTomorrow campaign on Wednesday, fundraising for a new CT scanner.
