The Quinte West Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee, along with the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and the City of Quinte West, is very pleased to announce they have signed Dr. Ian Spreadbury to a Medical Services Agreement.
Dr. Spreadbury is a 4thyear medical student at McGill University in Montreal. Originally from Salisbury, UK, he received his BSc Degree in Pharmacology and his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Bristol. Ian did postdoctoral medical research at the University of Oxford and the University of Calgary, prior to becoming a Research Associate at Queen’s University in Kingston for nine years. He expects to begin practising family medicine in Quinte West in 2021. Ian is also an accomplished photographer; whose work is on display at Frameworks Gallery in Kingston.
“It is critical to maintain the level of health services we have in this area, and this demonstrates what working together with the TMH Foundation can accomplish”, said Jim Harrison, Mayor of Quinte West.
Ian toured Quinte West and met with members of the medical community earlier this summer. “Having known the area a little before, I’d already been keen to settle here, but seeing the options for practice and meeting the people involved solidified my intentions further”, said Dr. Spreadbury. He is currently completing a 4- week elective rotation in family medicine with the Quinte West Family Health Team, before returning to McGill University to finish medical school. Ian will then complete a 2-year residency in Family Medicine before receiving his license to practice.
