The Quinte West Physician Recruitment and Retention Program, along with the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and the City of Quinte West, is very pleased to announce they have signed Dr. Matthew Steffler to a Medical Services Agreement.

Dr. Steffler was born and raised in Strathroy, Ontario and is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Medical School and Family Medicine Residency Program.  He met his wife Angie, who is also a physician, while they were in medical school and they are pleased to have each found career opportunities in the Quinte West/Belleville area.

In his spare time, Dr. Steffler enjoys all kinds of sports and spending quality time with family and friends.

“I am passionate about family medicine and look forward to settling into the community of Quinte West to both work and live.” he expressed.

Dr. Steffler expects to begin practicing in mid-July, from the Chamomile Health Centre on North Murray Street in Quinte West. Anyone seeking a new family physician needs to register with Health Care Connect at 1-800-445-1822.

“Our Physician Recruitment Coordinator and committee has worked very hard in the last 18 months to make up for lost time.  We are very proud to see everything coming together and are delighted to welcome Dr. Steffler and his wife to Quinte West.”  said Mayor  Jim Harrison.

The Quinte West Physician Recruitment Program was established as a joint partnership between the City of Quinte West and The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.  Last fall, the program announced they had signed their 1stphysician, Dr. Ian Spreadbury, who will begin practicing in 2021, after completing his medical residency at Memorial University in Newfoundland.
