QUINTE WEST – A partnership between Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and the City of Quinte West has resulted in a new position being filled within the foundation.
Last fall, the foundation and the city partnered to launch a new physician recruitment and retention program focused on bringing new doctors to Quinte West and ensuring the ones currently working in the municipality have will stay. On Monday, five generation Quinte West resident Paula Mason began the job of doing just this.
“Hiring a co-ordinator is a positive step in moving forward the great work we are doing with the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Quinte West physician recruitment committee to achieve the best results in attracting and keeping doctors in our community,“ stated Mayor Jim Harrison.
Wendy Warner, executive director of the TMH Foundation, who has the responsibility of managing the program, stated Mason brings both the skills and the community knowledge to the new position.
“Paula will be a wonderful addition to our team, she has the right combination of interpersonal skills, perseverance, research, administration and special events. Paula comes to us from the VON where she was involved in fundraising, another asset she brings to our team,” stated Warner.
In addition to attending career days at various medical schools throughout the province, Mason will also be working with local physicians to coordinate student, locum and resident tours, training opportunities and education sessions.
“We have only begun to scratch the surface of our potential to recruit new physicians to our area,” stated Warner.
